DENMARK, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team swept a doubleheader from Voorhees College on Thursday, rallying in both games.
The Tigers trailed 3-2 after four innings in the first game, but scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead. The Tigers added another run in the sixth and tacked on three runs in the seventh to claim an 8-3 victory.
Benedict trailed 2-0 in the second game, but tied the contest with two runs in the fourth and then scored the winning run in the top of the seventh for a 3-2 victory. Benedict improves to 14-6 overall.
Joe Lucas had a pair of RBIs in the first game, hitting a sacrifice fly in the second inning, then drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.
Daniel Young went 2-for-3 with an RBI single.
Joel Manzano went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while
Andrew McCoy went 2-for-2.
James Roman started on the mound and picked up the win, going five innings and giving up four hits with two earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts.
In the second contest, Vorhees jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings. Benedict tied the contest in the fourth inning.
Reinaldo Santiago and
Skyler Sabado each had a sacrifice fly. The game remained tied 2-2 until the seventh inning.

Myles Snype picked up the win in relief, going five innings and allowing just two hits and striking out three.
The Tigers have a three-game conference weekend series against Paine College on Saturday and Sunday in Augusta, Ga. Saturday's doubleheader starts at noon.
