SUMTER, S.C. – The Benedict College baseball team threw back-to-back no-hitters against Morris College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday.
Three pitchers combined for the no-hitter and struck out 12 in a 19-0 victory. In the second game, five pitchers combined for the no-hitter and struck out 14 in a 14-0 victory.
The Tigers improved to 19-8 overall. Morris fell to 0-6.
Joe Lucas had a three-run homer in the first game.
John Holleran and
David White Jr. drove in three runs each.
Armando Valentin went 5-for-5.
Murrell Martin picked up the win on the mound, throwing three innings in relief and striking out five.
White had a two-run homer in the second game.
Jorge Moreno drove in a pair of runs.
Yaniel Delgado, the fifth pitcher of the day, picked up the win by throwing three scoreless innings and striking out six.
The Tigers return home to face Claflin in a three-game conference series this weekend. Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon.
