ATLANTA – Morehouse College captured the series against Benedict with a 9-6 victory on Sunday in an SIAC baseball contest.
The Tigers fell to 22-11 overall and 6-6 in the SIAC. Morehouse improved to 16-21 overall and 4-11 in the SIAC.
Benedict committed four errors, which accounted for three unearned runs. The Tigers also left 10 men on base.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run single by
Jerome Holmes. Morehouse went on to take a 5-2 lead.
Shomarii Thomas hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to make it 5-3. Morehouse increased the lead to 9-5 with two runs in the eighth.
Reinaldo Santiago hit a solo homer in the ninth.
Benedict is back in action on Friday, taking on Claflin in a non-conference contest in Greenville's Fluor Field in the annual Jackie Robinson Classic game at 7 p.m. General admission tickets for the game are $8.
