BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Miles College Bears used an 11-0 run early in the game and never trailed to take a 75-56 victory over the Benedict College Tigers on Monday night in an SIAC matchup.
Miles broke away from a 2-2 tie at the start of the game by scoring the next 11 points. The Golden Bears pushed the lead to 16 points, 41-25, at the half.
The Golden Bears opened the second half with the first 11 points to take a 52-25 lead. A short time later, Miles had its largest lead of the game, 56-27. Benedict never got the lead under 19 points the rest of the game.
Quayshun Hawkins led Benedict with 15 points, while
Keon Scott matched his season-high with 11 points. Benedict committed 21 turnovers and that led to 30 points for Miles.
Benedict falls to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the SIAC. Miles improves to 3-9 overall and 1-0 in the SIAC.
Benedict travels to face Tuskegee on Wednesday night.
