BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers opened up 2017 with an 84-70 victory over Miles College in the Bill Harris Arena on Monday night.
Benedict held Miles to 30 percent shooting and forced 31 turnovers to improve to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in the SIAC. Miles falls to 4-7 and 0-1 in the SIAC.
MiKeisha Moore led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, while
Simone Roberts scored a season-high 17 points.

Zairra Harris had 13 points each.
After Miles started the game with a 6-2 lead, the Lady Tigers scored the next 13 points and led 28-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Bears cut the lead to 40-36 at the half.
An 8-0 run in the third quarter gave the Lady Tigers their largest lead, 61-42, with 3:16 left in the period. Benedict maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
The 31 turnovers by Miles was a season-high for a Benedict opponent. The Lady Tigers converted those turnovers into 32 points. Miles made 18 of 60 field goal attempts, including just 7-of-30 (23.3 percent) in the second half and 0-for-7 on 3-point attempts.
Benedict plays at Tuskegee on Wednesday night.
