TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers held Tuskegee to 29 percent shooting in the second half and went on to take a 90-68 victory over Tuskegee in an SIAC women's basketball game Wednesday night.
MiKeisha Moore led Benedict with 23 points.
Destiny Betts had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, all in the second half.
Zairra Harris scored 16 points and
Shanaissa White chipped in 12 points.
Benedict improves to 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the SIAC. Tuskegee drops to 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the SIAC.
Tuskegee had as much as a five-point lead in the first quarter before the Lady Tigers rallied to take a 28-24 lead. In the second period, Benedict took a 38-33 lead on a three-point play by White with 3:01 left in the half before Tuskegee came back to tie the game at 44 on a jumper by Jade Wilson at the buzzer.
The Lady Tigers scored the first seven points of the second half, then closed out the period with a 15-2 run to take a 76-58 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Tuskegee scored just 10 points in the fourth quarter, as Benedict forced seven turnovers in the final 10 minutes.
Benedict returns home for its first home contest since Dec. 13, taking on LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
