FORT VALLEY, Ga. – 
Quayshun Hawkins scored 23 points to help lead the Benedict College Tigers to a 72-64 SIAC men's basketball victory over Fort Valley State on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers used an 8-1 run in the second half to pull away from a 57-53 lead to take a 65-54 lead after a 3-pointer by 
Kel Robin with 5:19 left to play.
Benedict improves to 10-7 overall and 7-1 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 7-10 overall and 5-3 in the SIAC.
Robin added 14 points, while 
Brandon Morris added 12 points. 
Christopher Spencer had a team-high nine rebounds.
A 3-pointer by 
Quiron Cooke gave Benedict a 34-30 lead at the half. Fort Valley State led 39-36 in the second half before Hawkins tied the game with a 3-pointer. The Wildcats tied the game again at 43 before Spencer gave the Tigers the lead for good with a layup.
Benedict is back in action on Monday at Albany State.
