COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers dropped their fourth straight game, falling to Augusta University 61-51 on Tuesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start, falling behind 10-0 to start the game and didn't score until 
Kiarra Pettway hit a 3-pointer with 2:53 left in the first quarter. Benedict trailed by 15, 36-21, at the half and the Lady Jaguars took their largest lead in the third quarter, 48-31, in the third quarter.
Benedict rallied to cut the lead to six points, 50-44 at the end of the third quarter on a 3-pointer by 
Shirvel Luke, but Augusta quickly pushed the lead back to 10 points early in the fourth quarter and Benedict could never overcome the gap.
Benedict falls to 0-4 on the season. Augusta won its first game of the young season to improve to 1-1.
Ay'Anna Bey had 14 points to lead Benedict. Luke added nine points and had a team-high eight rebounds.
Benedict shot 35 percent for the game, including 28.1 percent in the first half.
The Lady Tigers play their next eight games on the road, beginning with a road trip to western Tennessee to open SIAC play against LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday and Lane on Monday. The next home game will be Dec. 18 against Spring Hill College.
