FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers shot just 29.2 percent and committed 26 turnovers in an 81-54 loss to Nova Southeastern University on Friday in a non-conference women's basketball game.
Benedict falls to 2-9 on the season. Nova Southeastern improves to 5-4.
The Lady Tigers had their only lead of the game after their first field goal, a 3-pointer by
Ayanna Armstead which gave Benedict a 3-2 lead in the opening minutes. The Sharks went on to take a 22-15 lead after the first quarter and held as much as a 17-point lead in the second quarter before Benedict cut the lead to 40-26 at the half.
Nova Southeastern built as much as a 29-point lead in the third quarter and kept a sizeable lead for the rest of the game.
JaBree Jones led the Lady Tigers with a season-high 16 points, getting 14 of those from the free-throw line. Armstead was the only other Lady Tiger to reach double figures, scoring 13 points.
Benedict is back in action on Saturday, taking on Barry at 3 p.m. in Miami Shores, Fla.
