ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams outscored Benedict 14-6 over the final four and a half minutes to take a 62-55 victory in a SIAC women's basketball game on Saturday.
Benedict fell behind early and fought to catch up, taking their first and only lead of the game at 49-48 on a free throw by
JaBree Jones with 4:46 left in the game. Albany State regained the lead shortly after that by scoring on a layup. Benedict made just two of seven field goal attempts and two of five free throws over the final four and a half minutes.
Benedict falls to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC. Albany State improves to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the SIAC.
Raven Baker led the Lady Tigers with 12 points.
Ay'Anna Bey added 11 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Shirvel Luke scored 10 points.
Benedict shot 30 percent (18-of-60) from the floor and made just 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from the free-throw line.
The Lady Tigers are back in action next Saturday at Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C. for a 1 p.m. contest.
