FRANKFORT, Ky. –
Davante Wiltshire hit a 3-pointer with 33 seconds left to help lift the Benedict College Tigers to an 83-77 victory over Kentucky State in a SIAC men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
Benedict had a 78-77 lead with just under a minute left to play. Wiltshire hit the key basket, then added two free throws with 19 seconds left to seal the victory.
Benedict improves to 11-3 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC. Kentucky State drops to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the SIAC.
Brandon Morris led the Tigers with 16 points.
Umar Frost added 14 points and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds.
Dimitri Cook chipped in 12 points.
The Tigers had a 40-38 lead at the half, but built a 58-50 lead after a layup by Frost with 13:03 left to play. The Thorobreds rallied to tie the game at 66 with 7:01 remaining. The score was tied again at 72 and at 76 with 1:50 on the clock.
The Tigers are back in action on Monday when they play at Central State at 4 p.m.
