COLUMBIA, S.C. – Sharik Woods drove in five runs on a home run and a double to help lead the Benedict College Lady Tigers to an 11-8 victory over Fayetteville State and salvage a split in their softball doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Billie then came home on a throwing error that allowed Tandreanna Conyers to reach first safely. Khayreyah Parrish and Erika Dargan each had a single, then Woods sent a deep ball over the center field fence for a three-run homer to give Benedict a 7-2 lead.

The Lady Broncos scored two runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 7-4. Benedict increased the lead to 10-4 on an RBI double by Parrish and a two-run double by Woods.

Fayetteville State pushed across four runs in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 10-8, scoring the final two runs on a Benedict throwing error. Benedict tacked on a final run in the sixth inning, getting a double by Amari Lawson, who then was able to score on a Fayetteville State error.

In the first game, Benedict struck first on an RBI double by Dargan in the first inning, but Fayetteville State tied the game in the second inning.
