COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's tennis team opened the SIAC Roundup Tournament with a pair of victories over Spring Hill College and Fort Valley State University.
The Tigers opened the roundup with a 5-2 victory over Spring Hill, then claimed a 6-2 victory over Fort Valley State. Benedict improves to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC.
Against Spring Hill, the Tigers opened with a pair of victories in doubles action, then won three singles matches for the victory. Nathaniel Pinkney and Quentin Eloise teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 singles, then each claimed a singles victory.
Against Fort Valley State, Benedict again took two of the three doubles matches. Pinkney, Eloise, Juan Hernandez and Justin Payton all had singles victories.
Benedict will take on LeMoyne-Owen at 8:30 a.m. at the Columbia Tennis Center, with a match against Morehouse at 1 p.m.
