COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Winston-Salem State University Rams hit three home runs to take an 8-3 victory over the Benedict College Tigers in a non-conference baseball game on Wednesday afternoon.
Winston-Salem State, now 5-10, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Benedict came back to tie the game with a single run in the second and third innings.
Darian Williams hit an RBI double in the second inning, while
David White Jr. tied the game with a solo home run in the third inning.
The Rams broke the tie in the sixth inning when Matt Mauldin hit a three-run homer.
Benedict cut the lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by
Armando Valentin. Winston-Salem added a two-run homer in the eighth and a solo homer in the ninth to wrap up the scoring.
The Tigers are back in action next Tuesday, hosting Lincoln University in a doubleheader starting at noon.
