COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's track and field team was led by the sprinters and field events at the USC Open this weekend.
Antonio Locklin Jr. ran a season-best time of 47.21 in the 400 meter dash, finishing fourth overall. He is currently ranked 11th in the NCAA national rankings, third in the South Region and first in the SIAC. Lennox Williams ran a season-best time of 47.53 in the 400 meter dash, finishing sixth overall. He is currently ranked No. 19 in the NCAA national rankings, fifth in the South Region and second in the SIAC.
Joshua Harris finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 45.48 meters (149 feet, 2 inches), the best in the SIAC this season. He also had a season-best mark in the hammer throw with a distance 47.29 meters (155 feet, 2 inches), finishing 12th overall. He is ranked second in the SIAC behind teammate Marc Sutton, who finished eighth overall with a throw of 53.18 meters (174 feet, 6 inches). He is currently ranked No. 1 in the South Region and SIAC.
Casser Middletown had stellar weekend by throwing a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 14.29 meters (46 feet, 10 ¼ inches), finishing eighth. He is currently ranked third in the SIAC. Teammate Jonhoi Clarke finished ninth with his personal best effort of 14.27 meters (46 feet, 10 inches).
Uchena Oparaku ran a season-best time of 55.19 in the 400 meter hurdles. He also ran a season-best time of 15.14 in the 110 meter hurdles. Teammate Qundez Carter ran a personal-best time of 56.90 in the 400 meter hurdles.
Dessie Demlew finished third overall in 3000 meter run with a time of 9:09.43 He is currently ranked first in the SIAC.
