COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers made a season-high 14 3-pointers and scored a season-high 92 points in a 92-57 victory over Fort Valley State in a SIAC women's basketball game on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers reached season-highs in field-goals attempted (76), field-goals made (31), 3-pointers attempted (44) and made (14) to improve to 7-14 overall and 7-6 in the SIAC. The 35-point margin of victory was also a season-high for the Lady Tigers. Fort Valley State falls to 3-10 overall and 3-11 in the SIAC.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 21 points, while
Ayanna Armstead had a season-high 20 points, connecting on five 3-pointers.
MiKeisha Moore had a season-high 15 points, coming on five 3-pointers.
Benedict scored on its first possession and never trailed in the contest. The Lady Tigers had a 19-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and had as much as a 15-point lead in the second quarter before taking a 42-30 advantage into the halftime locker room.
The Lady Tigers scored the first seven points of the second half and built the lead to 25 points, 67-42, heading into the fourth quarter. Benedict had its largest lead, 92-54, with 15 seconds left.
Benedict returns to action on Saturday, hosting Clark Atlanta University at 1 p.m.
