COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers staged a big second-half rally to surge past Tuskegee and take a 72-57 victory in a SIAC women's basketball game on Thursday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, and Tuskegee had a 37-30 lead at the half. The Lady Tigers scored the final 11 points of the third quarter to take a 48-44 lead, then outscored the Lady Golden Tigers 24-13 in the fourth quarter.
Benedict improves to 4-12 overall and 4-4 in the SIAC. Tuskegee falls to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in the SIAC.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 18 points.
Essence Stinnette added 14 points, while
Camryn Bostick scored a season-high 11 points. Jade Wilson led Tuskegee with 22 points.
The Lady Tigers went on a 12-1 run in the fourth quarter to pull away. Benedict held Tuskegee to 20.8 percent (5-of-24) in the second half. The Lady Tigers shot 43.75 percent (14-of-32) in the second half after shooting 27 percent in the first half.
Benedict is back in action on Saturday, hosting Miles College at 1 p.m.
