COLUMBIA, S.C. – Livingstone College handed Benedict College its third consecutive loss, taking a 3-0 victory in a non-conference volleyball match on Wednesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Livingstone won the match 25-18, 25-18, 28-26 to improve to 8-13 overall. Benedict falls to 12-12.
V'Aira Harris led the Lady Tigers with 16 kills and 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
Alia Gomez added 13 digs.
Ashleigh Reeves had 27 assists.
Livingstone broke away from an 11-11 tie with five straight points to pull away in the first set and pushed the lead to 22-14. The Lady Tigers rallied with four straight points to cut the lead to 22-18, but Livingstone closed out the set.
Livingstone used a 7-0 run in the second set for a 15-6 lead. Benedict got within 21-18, but the Blue Bears scored the final four points to secure the second set.
The third set was close the entire way. A kill by
Taylor Stephens gave the Lady Tigers a 22-20 lead, but Livingstone tied the score with back-to-back points on a kill and an ace. The two teams traded points until Livingstone pulled away with the final three points for a 28-26 win.
Benedict is back in action on Thursday night for a conference matchup against Fort Valley State at 6:30 p.m.
