MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers won their second straight game on their road trip to South Florida, beating Palm Beach Atlantic 73-56 on Saturday.
Benedict placed four players in double figures, with
Ay'Anna Bey leading the way with her second straight double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Camryn Bostick also had her first double-double of the season, 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Ayanna Armstead also poured in 16 points, while
Jasmine Gholson chipped in with 11 points.
Benedict improves to 2-1 on the season. The game was Palm Beach Atlantic's season-opener.
The Lady Tigers held Palm Beach Atlantic to 28.6 percent shooting (18-of-63) for the game and just 9.5 percent (2-of-21) on 3-point attempts. Benedict shot 40 percent (28-of-70) from the floor and 33.3 percent (6-of-18) on their 3-point attempts.
Benedict dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Sailfish 56-34. The Lady Tigers also had a huge advantage inside, outscoring Palm Beach Atlantic 40-16 in the paint.
The Lady Tigers had as much as an 11-point lead (22-11) in the first quarter. Benedict had a 40-28 lead late in the second quarter before the Sailfish scored the final eight points of the quarter to cut the lead to 40-36 at the half. Benedict scored the first eight points of the third quarter and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Augusta to take on Augusta University at 5:30 p.m.
