Benedict Splits Matches At SIAC Men's Tennis Roundup

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's tennis team split a pair of matches on the opening day of the SIAC Tennis Roundup.

Benedict, the two-time defending SIAC Champions, were upset 6-3 by Spring Hill College in the first match of the day. Benedict dropped all three doubles matches by the same 9-7 score, and all three matches were close.

Trailing 0-3 heading into the singles play, the Tigers won four of the singles matches, but could not overcome the deficit from doubles play.

In the second match of the afternoon, Benedict cruised to an 8-0 victory over Fort Valley State, dropping just one game in doubles and one game in singles.

The Tigers move to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the SIAC.

Benedict has three matches on Friday, and all their matches will be played at the Columbia Tennis Center. The Tigers take on LeMoyne-Owen at 8:30 a.m., then take on Morehouse at 12:30 p.m. and Lane College at 3:30 p.m.

Other SIAC matches will take place at The Woodlands, Greenview Park and Southeast Park.
