Box Score 4 MOBILE, Ala. – The Benedict College men's tennis team went 5-1 at the second SIAC Tennis Roundup.
The Tigers cruised to 9-0 wins over LeMoyne-Owen, Tuskegee and Fort Valley State, and took a 7-0 win over Lane. Benedict also beat Morehouse 7-2. In the final match of the roundup, Spring Hill College edged the Tigers 5-4.
Benedict moves to 13-8 overall and 10-2 in the SIAC.
Against Morehouse,
Taj Ballantyne rallied after dropping the first set 7-5 to win the second set 6-4 and won the tiebreaker 10-8.
Benedict had a 2-1 lead after doubles play against Spring Hill, but the Badgers won four of the six singles matches to pull out the victory.
Nikola Aleksic dropped a tough 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) match at No. 1 singles that clinched the match for Spring Hill.
Benedict will next compete at the SIAC Championship April 16-17 in Peachtree City, Ga. The Tigers are the three-time defending conference champions and will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
