ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Tigers staged a strong second-half rally to cut an 18-point lead to tie the game, but couldn't get over the hump as Albany State took an 82-72 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams had a 57-39 lead with 14:14 left to play when the Tigers went on a 27-9 run over the next seven and a half minutes to force a 66-66 tie after a pair of free throws by
Jalen Shuman. The Golden Rams broke away from a 68-68 tie by scoring the next eight points and held on for the win.
Benedict falls to 3-16 overall and 2-9 in the SIAC. Albany State improves to 8-13 overall and 7-4 in the SIAC.
Jasiah Perry led the Tigers with 15 points, matching his season-high. Shuman added 13 points and
Romello Jones chipped in with 11 points.
The Tigers continue their road trip with a contest at Fort Valley State on Monday night.
