SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Benedict College volleyball team fell to Savannah State University 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Savannah State won the match 25-27, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 15-12, improving their overall record to 5-10. Benedict College falls to 10-8.
V'Aira Harris led the Lady Tigers with 19 kills and 12 digs. Adrionna Washington added 13 kills, while Ashleigh Reeves contributed with 33 assist.
The first set went back and forth until Benedict pulled through with back to back points to win the set. The second set encountered the same back and forth action. The Lady Tigers found themselves up 20-18 before allowing Savannah State to go on a 7-1 run closing out the set.
In the third set, the score was tied at 22 all until Savannah State scored three unanswered points to win the set. Benedict would go on to win the fourth set thanks to a kill by Daija Walton and an attach error by Savannah State. After Benedict scored the first three points in the fifth set, Savannah State went on a 15-9 run to win the final set and the match.
Benedict will host Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday at 7Â p.m.
