COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Johnson & Wales University pulled out a 3-1 non-conference volleyball victory over Benedict College on Wednesday night.
Johnson & Wales University won the match 25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19 to improve to 16-5Â on the season. Benedict falls to 10-9 on the season.
The first set remained close throughout until Johnson & Wales University went on a 10-6 run to close out the set. The Lady Tigers would go on to play solid in the second set tying the match at one all.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the third set and never looked back. Benedict would close the gap to 15-13, but would never get closer.
Benedict fell behind 10-4 to begin the fourth set, but would then go on a 6-1 run to pull within one point, 11-10. The Wildcats would then outscore the Lady Tigers 14-9, winning the set and clinching the match.
Adrionna Washington led the Lady Tigers with 14 kills and two aces. Daija Walton added 11 kills, while Brikyia Benjamin contributed eight kills.
Benedict will travel to Allen University on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
