COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers volleyball team defeated Livingstone College 3-1 on Thursday night for their seventh straight win.
The Lady Tigers won the match 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16 improving to 18-10 overall. Livingstone drops to 10-11.
Daija Walton led Benedict with 12 kills and five blocks. Ashleigh Reeves contributed with 40 assists, 14 digs, and two blocks. Adrionna Washington added 11 kills.
In the first set, the Lady Tigers jumped out to an early 12-6 lead. The Blue Bears would fight back after scoring five unanswered points to come within one. Benedict would hold on and win the set 25-22.
Benedict rolled to an easy second set victory after taking a 17-9 lead off a kill by Kayla Stephens. The Lady Tigers looked to be in control of the third set after taking a 17-12 lead. Livingstone would outscore Benedict 13-6 to close out the set.
The Lady Tigers would take care of business in the fourth set jumping out to a 14-6 lead clinching the match.
Benedict will host Clark Atlanta University on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
