BOCA RATON, FL – The Benedict College Lady Tigers basketball team kicked off their season with a convincing 93-59 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University in the SIAC/SSC Challenge.
Benedict starts the reason 1-0, while Palm Beach Atlantic University will drop to 0-1.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 33 points and 15 rebounds, while Mahogany Randall added 12 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
After the game was tied at 15 with 2:22 left in the first quarter, Benedict outscored their opponent 34-13 to take a commanding 49-28 lead into the half.
Not much would change in the second half as Benedict controlled the tempo and outworked their opponent winning the half 44-31.
The Lady Tigers dominated in the paint outscoring Palm Beach Atlantic 40-10 and had a solid 12-1 advantage in second chance points. Benedict nearly doubled the Sailfish in rebounds, holding a 50-26 advantage on the boards.
Benedict will be back in action on Saturday against Lynn University at noon as they look to close out the SIAC/SSC Challenge.
