COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers wrapped up their 2018-19 home schedule with an 84-67 victory over Fort Valley State on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena and remain unbeaten in conference play.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds for her eighth consecutive double-double and 16
th double-double of the season.
Octavia Hawkins came off the bench to score a season-high 18 points.
Ayanna Armstead had her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Benedict improves to 19-5 overall and 14-0 in the SIAC. Fort Valley State falls to 5-18 overall and 5-10 in the SIAC.
Fort Valley State opened the game with an 8-5 lead, but the Lady Tigers roared back with 12 unanswered points. Benedict finished the first quarter with an 18-14 lead. Back-to-back 3-pointers early in the second quarter gave the Lady Wildcats the lead, but Benedict went on an 11-0 run to take a 30-22 lead. Fort Valley State rallied back to tie the game 32-32 on a 3-pointer just before the half.
The third quarter was back-and-forth, with Benedict taking a 54-50 lead heading into the final period. The Lady Tigers used an eight-point run early in the fourth quarter to take a 64-53 lead and stayed in control the rest of the way.

Andresha Smith.
Benedict returns to action Saturday on the road at Clark Atlanta for its final conference game of the season.
