COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers committed seven errors and gave up 13 unearned runs as the Tigers dropped a 16-12 decision to the College of Saint Rose on Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field.
The Tigers fall to 2-2 on the season. The College of Saint Rose improves to 2-5.
College of Saint Rose opened with two runs in the first, but the Tigers answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. After an RBI by
Christopher Harper, the Tigers added two more runs on an error by the Golden Knights for a 3-2 lead.
Sterling Smith stole home to give Benedict a 4-2 lead. A bases-loaded walk by
Javier Santiago gave Benedict a 5-3 lead in the second inning.
The Golden Knights took the lead for good in the third inning with five unearned runs.
Bradon O'Connor led the Tigers at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
Jorge Baez drove in three runs on a two-run double and a sacrifice fly. Santiago, Smith and
Myles Snype all had a pair of RBIs.
Benedict travels to Myrtle Beach on Saturday for a non-conference game against Penn College. The Tigers are back home on Monday against Lenoir-Rhyne.
