HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to an 11-1 lead after three innings and went on to take a 16-4 victory over Benedict College in a non-conference baseball game on Wednesday evening.
The Bears (17-21) scored five runs in the second inning and never looked back.
Benedict (9-10) got on the board in the top of the third when
Michael Garner hit an RBI triple. Lenoir-Rhyne answered with six runs in the bottom of the third, scoring two of the runs on wild pitches.
The Tigers got another run in the seventh on an RBI double by
Darian Williams.
Javier Santiago drove home Benedict's third run on a single in the top of the eighth. Garner and Santiago led Benedict at the plate with two hits each.
Benedict returns to action with a 6 p.m. doubleheader Thursday against Morris College in Sumter.
