COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers outscored Paine College 50-34 in the second half to take an 88-64 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Benedict improves to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the SIAC. Paine College falls to 1-12 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC.
Malachi McCoy led the Tigers with 14 points and 10 rebounds, both season highs. 
Deon Joyner contributed with 13 points and six rebounds.
Tajh Green jumped out to a strong start for Benedict, knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Tigers an early 8-2 lead four minutes into the game. With 10:28 remaining in the half, a tip-in by Green gave the Tigers their largest lead of the first half, 22-7.
The Lions fought back and went on a 21-8 run to close the gap to two points with 2:41 remaining. Benedict answered back, closing the half on an 8-2 run to increase the lead to 38-30 heading into halftime.
Green would go down with an injury at the end of the first half, holding him out for the remainder of the game. McCoy stepped in to fill the void left by Green and played sensational.
In the second half, McCoy scored 14 points and 10 rebounds to help the Tigers pull away from the Lions. With 6:50 left in regulation and Benedict having extended their lead to 18, 
NyQuan McCombs found McCoy on a magnificent alley-oop dunk to take the life out of Paine.
The Tigers coasted to an 88-64 victory, with a 29-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
Benedict will travel to Bluefield State College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in a non-conference showdown.
