COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Tigers are set for a quick one-game road trip against the Bluefield State Big Blues on Wednesday night.
Benedict has won three of their last four games, including an impressive 96-83 victory against Lane College on December 21
st.
Tajh Green and
Tyrese Mapp posted double-doubles in this matchup with a combined 40 points and 24 rebounds.
Back on November 16
th, the Tigers defeated the Big Blues 84-69 inside HRC Arena. During the contest,
Joseph Staton and
Deon Joyner posted 21 points apiece. Green also added 16 points and nine rebounds on the night. Benedict outmuscled Bluefield State, outscoring them 44-22 in points in the paint and 22-7 in second chance points.
Bluefield State currently holds a 6-8 record and is coming off of an offensive outburst of 109 points against Campbellsville University Harrodsburg on Saturday. The Big Blues rank 22
nd in opponent 3-point field goal percentage (30.8 percent), 57
th in steals per game (8.1), and 65
th in offensive rebounds per game (12.00) in the nation this year. They have four players (Marquez Cooper, Zhahidi Robinson, Alex Nunnally, and Chris Knight) averaging double-figure points, with Cooper putting up 14.8 points per game (48.6 percent shooting), 5.2 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game during this campaign.
This will mark only the second time the two schools have faced off as Benedict looks to sweep the season series tonight at 7:30 p.m.
