TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Benedict College men's basketball team fell to Tuskegee University, 80-63, on Saturday in Chappie James Center.

Benedict falls to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the SIAC. Tuskegee University improves to 8-5 and 5-1 in the SIAC.

Tyrese Mapp led the Tigers with 14 points, while Aboubacar Camara added 12 points and four rebounds to the contest.

After two free throws from Camara closed the gap to 19-16 with 11:11 left in the first half, the Golden Tigers went on a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 12 points. Benedict would continue to struggle throughout the remainder of the first half and trailed 46-28 at the half.

Benedict performed much better in the second half, led by 10 points from Camara. Tuskegee would increase their lead to as much as 26 points, 63-37, with 11:03 remaining in the second half. The Tigers bounced back and went on a 15-7 run to close the gap to 71-52 with 4:35 left in regulation. The Tigers would outscore Tuskegee 11-9 throughout the final four minutes of regulation, but this would not be enough.

Benedict struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 3-14 (21.4 percent) from the 3-point line against the Golden Tigers. Tuskegee forced 22 Benedict turnovers and had a decisive 29-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
 
Benedict will travel to conference rival Spring Hill College on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
