COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers hit .481 and committed a season-low four attach errors to take a 3-0 victory over Savannah State on Wednesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers improve to 11-7 overall and 6-4 in the SIAC. Savannah State falls to 7-8 overall and 4-6 in the SIAC.
Benedict scored the final eight points in the first set to take a 25-13 victory. The Lady Tigers jumped out to a big 17-4 lead in the second set and went on to take a 25-15 victory. Savannah State took an early 7-3 lead in the third set before Benedict used a 5-1 run to take the lead and then scored the final three points for a 25-20 victory to clinch the match.
Daija Walton led the Lady Tigers with 10 kills and
Cana Smith added nine.
Ashleigh Reeves had 27 assists. The Lady Tigers served nine aces and had five blocks.
Benedict returns to action on Friday with a non-conference meeting against Paine at 6 p.m.
