ALBANY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers scored the first four points of the game and never trailed to take a 74-44 victory over Albany State on Friday.
The Lady Tigers improve to 10-3. Albany State drops to 0-9.
Ay'Anna Bey led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, while
Jasmine Gholson hit five 3-pointers and scored a season-high 15 points.
Keondra Archie had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Wykira Johnson-Kelly also added 12 points.
Benedict used an eight-point run late in the first quarter and had a 20-12 lead. The Lady Tigers then used an 11-0 run in the second quarter to take a 31-14 lead after a 3-pointer by Gholson. Benedict had a 41-23 lead at the half.
The Lady Tigers opened the second half with eight straight points, getting a pair of 3-pointers by Bey, for a 49-23 lead. Benedict's largest lead came after a layup by Archie for a 62-26 lead.
Benedict and Albany State will meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the final game of the season for Benedict.
