JACKSON, Tenn. – The Benedict College women's basketball team shot just 26.9 percent in their first game of the new year and fell to Lane College 57-50 in a SIAC contest on Wednesday night.
The Lady Tigers trailed 45-39 with 6:28 left in the game before rallying to cut the lead to one point, 49-48, with 2:47 remaining after
Camryn Bostick hit a pair of free throws. Lane answered with a layup, then hit two free throws with 1:21 left to play for a 53-48 lead.
Keondra Archie led the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Bostick had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Kayla Simmons led Lane, now 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the SIAC, with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Benedict connected on 18-of-67 shots (26.9 percent), including 3-of-22 (13.6 percent) of their 3-pointers.
The Lady Tigers, now 10-5 overall and 6-1 in the SIAC, will return to action on Saturday with a home game against Edward Waters at 1 p.m.
