FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. - Benedict quarterback Eric Phoenix has been named HBCU National Player of the Week.
Phoenix, a junior from Savannah, Ga., completed 19-of-29 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 91 yards and a touchdown in leading the Tigers to a 58-21 victory over Tuskegee in the SIAC championship game. Phoenix tallied 404 yards of total offense in the game.
