COLUMBIA, S.C. – Clark Atlanta pulled away from a close game with four runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Benedict College Tigers 14-9 in SIAC baseball action Sunday to sweep the three-game conference series.
The Tigers trailed 9-8 when the Panthers scored a run in the seventh, then scored four runs on three hits, one walk, one hit batsman and a Benedict error to take a 14-8 lead.
Benedict out-hit the Panthers 12-11.
Bradon O'Connor,
Jamell Mitchell Jr. and
Jalen McDuffie all had two hits each.
Fareed Mizelle had a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
TreVohn Jeffrey had a two-run single in the sixth to cut the score to 9-8.
Benedict falls to 3-30 overall and 2-20 in the SIAC. Clark Atlanta improves to 11-25 overall and 4-16 in the SIAC.
The Tigers play a non-conference doubleheader against Morris College at home on Thursday, starting at noon.
