ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University outscored Benedict 10-0 over the final four innings to break open a close game and take a 12-1 victory in the final game of the SIAC series on Sunday.
The Tigers scored their only run of the game in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 2-1.
Taj Bates and
Jacob Hall hit back-to-back two-out singles to score Benedict's only run. The Tigers were held to five hits in the contest.
The Golden Rams, now 24-8 overall and 23-3 in the SIAC, added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, then scored five runs in the seventh and finally three more in the eighth.
Benedict, now 5-33 overall and 2-23 in the SIAC, will play a non-conference contest against Claflin University on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.
