COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's tennis team will take on No. 2 Barry University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Championship.
The Tigers, 16-4 overall and champions from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will take on the Buc, 16-5overall, at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center in Miami Shores, Fla.
Barry is led by the seventh-ranked individual in Division II, Alejandro Palacios. He went 11-3 in singles matches and was a first-team All-Sunshine State Conference selection. Alejandro Ibanez Gallego is ranked 13
th in the country. He went 4-5 in singles action and 5-2 in doubles action.
The Tigers are led by
Mark Chigaazira, who went 12-4 at No. 1 singles.
Divgurjot Singh went 14-1 and was named the SIAC Freshman of the Year.
The winner of Monday's match will face the winner between West Florida and Valdosta State on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
