Benedict's Scotland Named SIAC Offensive Player Of The Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – Noah Zaire Scotland (Benedict) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Zelly Aldridge (Tuskegee) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

 

Arnes Huskic (Tuskegee) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Corintheus Edmonds (Fort Valley State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.

 

OFFENSIVE – Noah Zaire Scotland, Benedict

 Scotland became Benedict's first 100-yard rusher of the season with 112 yards on 22 carries in Benedict's 24-6 victory over Savannah State on Thursday night. He scored one touchdown for the Tigers.

 

DEFENSIVE – Zelly Aldridge, Tuskegee

Defensive Back/Safety  |  Sophomore  |  Gallion, AL

 Aldridge has provided value to Tuskegee's defensive backfield after transferring to play for the Golden Tigers. The safety finished last week with five tackles, including four solos, a pass break up, and also sealed the upset win for the Golden Tigers with an interception on the final play of the game.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS – Arnes Huskic, Tuskegee

 Huskic went 2-for-3 on field goals for the Golden Tigers win on Saturday against West Alabama, including a 29-yard kick to cap off a drive with just over five minutes left to take the lead and eventually win the game over the Tigers. He also made a 42-yard field goal for the first score of the game in the first quarter.

   

NEWCOMER – Corintheus Edmonds, Fort Valley State

Wide Receiver  |    Senior  |  Atlanta, GA

 Edmonds, a transfer from Atlanta, GA had a big day as a Wildcat on Saturday. Edmonds pulled in seven passes for 143 yards and a 51-yd touchdown. His touchdown catch came on the fourth play out of half to pull FVSU to within 21-17 at that point. He also had pulled in two of his catches on the game-winning drive of 11 yards for a first down and then an 8-yard grab that gave FVSU a first-and-goal at the Allen 10-yard line where the team scored three plays later, sealing the 29-27 win.
