Benedict's Denelus, Campbell, Pritchett Named To Don Hansen All-America Team

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — The Don Hansen Football Committee has released the 2022 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team, and three Benedict College football players earned recognition.

Defensive lineman Loobert Denelus was named a first-team All-American. Offensive lineman Maurice Campbell was named to the second team, while offensive lineman Tyler Pritchett was named an honorable mention.

Denelus, the SIAC Defensive Player of the Year, has earned All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association and BoxToRow. The junior defensive lineman was also named an Academic All-American.

Campbell and Pritchett were both named first-team All-SIAC and were key members of the offensive line that helped the Tigers lead the SIAC in scoring and finish second in total offense per game.

Benedict went 11-1 overall during the 2022 season, winning the SIAC championship for the first time in school history and advancing to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in school history.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
