FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Benedict College held Fort Valley State to 26 percent shooting, and the Lady Tigers won their second straight game with a 62-44 victory on Monday night in a SIAC women's basketball game.
Mahogany Randall scored 18 points to lead the Lady Tigers, who improved to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in the SIAC.
Madison Golden added 13 points and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Emiya Gallman also grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as Benedict out-rebounded Fort Valley State 49-39.
The game was close in the first half, with Benedict never leading by more than five points, and the Lady Wildcats never leading by more than four points. The Lady Tigers scored the first seven points of the third quarter to take a 32-21 lead. Fort Valley State, now 3-11 overall and 3-8 in the SIAC, trimmed the lead to 38-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
Benedict opened the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run to make it 50-36 and cruised the rest of the way for the victory.
The Lady Tigers play at Allen University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
