JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers stretched their winning streak to a season-high four games with a 78-72 victory over Edward Waters University on Monday night.
Taylor Christmas had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Madison Golden also scored 17 points for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 7-11 overall and 5-7 in the SIAC.
Mahogany Randall added 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Malayah Montgomery chipped in 12 points.
The Lady Tigers used a 6-1 run to close out the first quarter to pull away from a back-and-forth game to take a 19-14 lead. Benedict used an 8-0 run late in the second quarter to build a 39-28 lead and had a 42-33 lead at the half. A 3-pointer by Golden gave Benedict its largest lead, 57-42, with 3:51 left in the third quarter.
Benedict shot 50 percent (27-of-54), while holding Edward Waters, now 8-10 overall and 4-6 in the SIAC, to just 31.1 percent (19-of-61). Benedict out-rebounded Edward Waters 47-32.
The Lady Tigers wrap up their six-game road trip with a game at Savannah State on Wednesday before returning home for a rematch against Savannah State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
