COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tuskegee outscored Benedict 14-6 over the final three and a half minutes of the game to take a 73-69 victory over a SIAC men's basketball contest on Wednesday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Tigers had as much as a 14-point lead in the second half, before the Golden Tigers rallied. A 3-pointer by Gregg Boyd gave Tuskegee its first lead since early in the game, 66-63, with 2:09 remaining. A 3-pointer by
Asanti Price tied the game at 69 with 20 seconds left. Tuskegee hit two free throws with 16 seconds. After a Benedict turnover, Tuskegee closed out the game with two more free throws.
Price led the Tigers with 25 points, hitting seven 3-pointers.
Dontavius King and
Malachi McCoy had 10 rebounds each.
Benedict falls to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the SIAC. Tuskegee moves to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in the SIAC.
Benedict returns to action with a home game on Saturday against Clark Atlanta, with tipoff at 3 p.m.
