COLUMBIA, S.C. – Clark Atlanta outscored Benedict 24-5 in the third quarter to pull away and take a 67-50 victory in a SIAC women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Clark Atlanta closed out the first half with a buzzer-beating jumper to take a 33-29 lead at the break. Benedict was scoreless in the third quarter for the first 6:23 as the Lady Panthers scored 20 unanswered points. Benedict ended the drought with a pair of free throws by
Emiya Gallman with 3:37 left to make it 53-31.
Benedict, now 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC, shot 1-of-16 in the third quarter and 27.8 percent for the game (15-of-54).
Taylor Christmas led the Lady Tigers with 10 points.
The Lady Tigers are on the road Monday to take on Paine College in Augusta, Ga. at 5:30 p.m.
