COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers had a 12-point fourth-quarter lead, but Miles College was able to rally and take a 67-66 victory in a SIAC women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
The Lady Tigers had a 66-63 lead with 16 seconds left, but Miles tied the game on a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left, and Feliah Greer sank the game-winning free throw with a half second left.
Benedict falls to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the SIAC. The Lady Tigers have now lost six straight games. Miles moves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the SIAC with their sixth straight victory.
Freshman
Alaysia Nash scored a career-high 16 points for the Lady Tigers.
Taylor Christmas added 13 points. Sophomore
Shakera Duncan added eight points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds.
Benedict trailed 29-20 at the half, but went on a 12-0 run at the start of the third quarter to take a 34-30 lead, and had as much as an eight-point lead, 41-33, after a layup by
Amaya Ashby. The Lady Tigers had a 44-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Tigers have one more game before the Christmas break, traveling to take on Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte on Tuesday.
