CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Johnson C. Smith scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed in the contest as the Golden Bulls defeated Benedict College 89-61 in a non-conference women's basketball contest on Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers dropped their seventh consecutive game and fall to 1-9 on the season. Johnson C. Smith goes to 4-6 with their second victory over Benedict in 10 days.
Ghylissa Knowles scored 14 points to lead the Lady Tigers, and
Alaysia Nash and
Kaya Evans scored 13 points each.
Johnson C. Smith shot an opponents season-high 61.1 percent (33-of-54) from the floor, and had as much as a 36-point lead, 85-49, early in the fourth quarter.
Benedict will take a break for the Christmas holiday and will return to action on Jan. 4 with a road trip to Spring Hill.
