ATLANTA, Ga. – The Benedict College men's basketball team won their fifth straight game to close out the regular season with a 93-78 victory over Clark Atlanta on Monday night.
Tim Moore scored a season-high 27 points.
Brandon Beidleman added 13 points while grabbing a season-high eight rebounds.
Malachi McCoy chipped in 12 points.
The Tigers went on a 15-0 run in the first half to take a 38-21 lead and held a 40-25 lead at the half. Benedict pushed the lead to as much as 27 points, 56-29, early in the second half after a fast-break layup by Moore.
The Panthers cut the lead to 10 points, 78-68, late in the second half, but the Tigers answered with a jumper by Moore and a 3-pointer by
Asanti Price for an 83-68 lead with less than three minutes left in the game. Clark Atlanta got the lead under double digits, 83-75, on a dunk with 2:02 remaining before the Tigers got a three-point play and a jumper by Moore. The Tigers closed out the game by scoring the game's final five points at the free-throw line in the final 33 seconds.
Benedict now awaits for the official pairings for the 2023 TIAA SIAC Basketball Tournament presented by Cricket in Savannah, Ga.
