ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State scored six runs in the first inning and then held off a late Benedict rally to take a 6-5 victory on Sunday to sweep the three-game conference series.
T'yannah Lake got Benedict on the scoreboard with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Tanijah Washington hit an RBI infield single to make it 6-2.
In the sixth inning,
Chesney Miller hit a two-out double to drive in a run to make it 6-3.
Lake drove in another run in the seventh, smacking a one-double double to center field, bringing home
Deyonce Lewis.
Tre'sor Eady followed with a single to center field to score Lake and cut the lead to 6-5. The next two batters flied out to end the game.
Benedict travels to North Greenville for a doubleheader next Saturday.
