COLUMBIA, SC. -- Benedict College held Albany State to 30.5 percent shooting, and the Tigers defeated Albany State 63-54 on Monday night in the Benjamin E. Mays HRC Arena.
Benedict placed two players in double figures.
Malachi McCoy led the Tigers with 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.Â
Tim Moore added 13 points and
Marshaun West passed out five assists.

The Tigers and Albany State would battle all through the first half going into halftime tied at 25.Â

Benedict jumped out to an early seven-point lead in the second half, 35-28, but Albany State tied the lead after four free throws and a 3-pointer. The Golden Rams took a 50-49 lead with 8:15 left to play on a 3-pointer. The Tigers answered by scoring the next nine points for a 58-50 lead with 3:54 remaining.

Albany State pulled within four points, 58-54, with one minute left, but West hit a 3-pointer and
Tim Moore finished the game with a dunk and a blocked shot.

Benedict improves to 15-9 overall and 13-5 in the SIAC. Albany State falls to 7-18 overall and 7-11 in the SIAC.
